Don't use flux with it, just sand or wirebrush clean.
Thanks Oscar, looks like Eastwood has a similar product called the 'Alumiweld System' (19081). Ive just received the Spot/Stitch Welder kit in the mail today and tried it out this afternoon. Very cool pair of gizmo's but they do take a bit of practice to get used to. Im still trying to get the amps just right, then i'll start on the new floor for the Pontiac.

Meanwhile, it dawned on me that the spot welder could also be used to heat-shrink panels if you bypass the arcing step and just hold the carbon rod on the metal briefly, then planish or use a slap file to dress up. This is a similar process to the old method of passing a welding rod over the panel (the days before heat shrinking guns). I'll report on the success of that later.
Is there anyone else out there with the set and some sneaky tips to pass on?

You can use a product called Super alloy 1 it's sold by an outfit called Muggy Weld in the US 1-866-684-4993 www.muggyweld.com you can see a demo on their site and also on Utube, melts and bonds at half the temp of pot metal therefore no melting or warpage problems good for pitting or buildups too
